First-year Berkeley Law students step into the role of corporate lawyers at the annual Halloum Negotiation Competition, developing key skills to negotiate complex business deals. Often a pathway to the Board of Advocates and its external competition Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Team, the event features teams of two students whose negotiations are judged by corporate law practitioners and experienced ADR Team members. Each round has a 40-minute negotiation followed by teams presenting their 7-minute analysis to judges, who then score their ballots individually and offer feedback. Jack Thompson (pictured) and teammate Cole Benowitz won this year’s competition, with Cameron Bankes and Kausar Raniwala placing second. Watch the final round below.
