Four Berkeley Law students are among this year’s Justice John Paul Stevens Public Interest Fellows: Rising 3Ls Jeremy Berger, Claudia Deitch, Renee Hernandez Rodriguez, and Dawson Wilcox. Funded by the John Paul Stevens Foundation, the fellowships help expand both access to justice — nearly 90% of low-income Americans face civil legal problems without adequate counsel — and the pool of those entering the legal profession. Berkeley Law’s recipients are among a national cohort working this summer across 28 states and Washington, D.C., in areas such as criminal justice reform, civil rights, housing instability, immigration, and environmental protection. Over 73% of Stevens Fellows go on to public interest law careers.
