2Ls Ali Rafie and Mahi Gurram won the awards for best overall and best negotiation team at the 2026 UCLA Transactional Law Competition. The event features law student teams drafting portions of a simulated complex business transaction while representing either the buyer or seller, then negotiating the terms with an opposing team as experienced practitioners serve as judges. Last year, Berkeley Law won for best negotiation and best brief. “Mahi and I were thrilled to bring two awards back home to Berkeley, especially competing against teams from across the country,” Rafie says.
