Being a Judge in Korea Today – February 18, 2026

The UC Berkeley Korea Law Center is pleased to present a Lunch Talk Series. Through this series, we invite a diverse group of Korean legal professionals to share insights on Korea and its connections to the global community, offering perspectives shaped by their varied professional experiences.

As the first speaker in the series, we are honored to welcome Judge Jiyoon Han of the Daejeon District Court. After majoring in computer science at both the undergraduate and master’s levels, Judge Han gained diverse professional experience before joining the bench. She is currently affiliated with Berkeley Law as a visiting scholar.

Professor Laurent Mayali, Director of the Korea Law Center, will engage in a conversation with Judge Han, drawing on his extensive and deep knowledge of the Korean legal landscape developed through his long-standing and close relationship with Korea.
