Supporting HRC

THANK YOU for supporting the Human Rights Center!

Each year, we raise more than 94 percent of our budget from individuals and foundations.

Your support is crucial to our success and enables us to:

  1. deliver reliable research and technical expertise to human rights defenders, international courts, policymakers, and advocates on the front lines;
  2. convene human rights advocates to coordinate efforts and share strategies, and;
  3. educate and support students interested in working on human rights issues.

Other ways to support the Human Rights Center:

  • Honorary and Memorial Gifts

 Celebrate a loved one with a gift to the Human Rights Center. Your tax-deductible gift in honor/memory of a friend and/or family member will contribute to our work of pursuing justice through science and law. Your gift and honoree will be acknowledged in our annual report, if you so choose. (Please provide details about your honoree in the box “additional details” on the Give to Berkeley website or email us at hrc@berkeley.edu.)

  • Event Sponsorship

Every year, the Human Rights Center hosts our annual Human Rights Fellowship Conference at UC Berkeley. Our human rights conference offers community members, students and supporters an opportunity to learn about the pressing issues our fellows have worked on. The conference is publicized in Bay Area and UC Berkeley campus news outlets, including radio, newspapers, social media and blogs and brings in an audience of over 100 people. For more information on co-sponsoring this important event, contact us at 510.642.0965 or hrc@berkeley.edu.

  • Sponsor a Student Fellow

Please consider making a tax-deductible gift to support our Fellowship Program, which enables students to make important contributions to human rights organizations worldwide. Since 1994, the Human Rights Center has sent more than 275 students into the field to conduct human rights work and research. Our program includes training in methods, security, cultural understanding, and all aspects of research in the field. Many of our fellowship participants have gone on to pursue careers that directly or indirectly relate to human rights. For more information, contact us at 510.642.0965 or hrc@berkeley.edu.

  • Special Fundraising Campaigns

Be a part of the BIG GIVE (November 19, 2015) Berkeley’s 24-hour fundraising campaign by donating to the Human Rights Center. With your donation, the Human Rights Center will be able to continue to protect vulnerable populations and advance justice and also be eligible to win day-of special contest funds.
