
David Kurkovskiy is a PhD Candidate in the Slavic Department at UC Berkeley. He focuses on the 19th- and early-20th-century political, intellectual, and literary history of the borderland regions between Poland and Russia, and works chiefly between six languages: Belarusian, Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, and Yiddish. His journalistic and literary translations are primarily from Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian, and have been featured in the New York Times, Plume, and a Belarus blog hosted by the Vienna Institute for Human Sciences.
