Catherine Grosso

 

Catherine Grosso is a Visiting Research Scholar at UC Berkeley’s Criminal Law & Justice Center while on sabbatical from Michigan State University College of Law.  Professor Grosso was elected to the American Law Institute in 2022. She also has taught at Birzeit University in Palestine; and the University of Illinois College of Law. She studied at Earlham College and the University of Iowa College of Law. Her recent work uses empirical methods to examine the persistent role of race in jury selection and in charging and sentencing decisions relating to capital punishment.  She has received funding from private foundations to research the implementation of California’s Racial Justice Act with an interdisciplinary team while at Berkeley.
