Alonzo Harvey

Alonzo Harvey is a system-impacted leader, community organizer, and UC Berkeley graduate dedicated to transforming the criminal legal system through advocacy, policy education, and community empowerment. His leadership began while he was wrongfully incarcerated, an experience that exposed the deep flaws in the system and strengthened his commitment to uplifting the voices of justice-impacted people.

For more than a decade, Alonzo has organized grassroots efforts across San Diego and the Bay Area, leading door-knocking campaigns on CalGang, Proposition 57, and Proposition 21. He partnered with the San Diego Public Defender’s Office on Proposition 47 record-clearing clinics and supported families through Pillars of the Community’s Participatory Defense Program.

At UC Berkeley, he earned a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Public Policy and served as an Ambassador for Underground Scholars. As Vice President of Umoja at San Diego City College, he helped create supportive spaces for justice-impacted students. He later interned at the Criminal Law & Justice Center, contributing to research and policy discussions on prosecutorial accountability and justice reform.
