Local Renewable Energy Report

The Center for Law, Energy and the Environment at Berkeley Law has released a report entitled California’s Transition to Local Renewable Energy: 12,000 Megawatts by 2020. Click here to download the full report.

This report is intended to capture major points of discussion at the Governor’s Conference on Local Renewable Energy Resources, held this past July in Los Angeles.  Prepared by primary authors Steve Weissman and Jeffrey Russell of Berkeley Law, the report identifies barriers to achieving the California Governor’s 12,000 MW goal, and issues recommendations for expanding small, localized renewables across the state.

Recommendations made in the report are CLEE at Berkeley Law’s alone.  The Governor’s Office has stated that they consider this report and its recommendations to be an important contribution to the state’s policy conversation regarding distributed generation.

June 14th Webinar

CLEE will host a webinar on the challenges, solutions and progress toward Governor Brown’s
goal of attaining 12,000 megawatts of local renewable energy in California by 2020. The webinar will take place on Thursday, June 14, at 2:00 pm PDT.  Report coauthors Steve Weissman and Jeff Russell will provide an overview of the challenges and solutions identified in the report. Wade Crowfoot, Deputy Director of the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research, will discuss the state’s progress toward the goal as well as actions the Governor’s Office is taking to help clear the path for development of local renewable energy.
