Awards Banquet

Berkeley Law’s Environmental Awards Banquet is a central tradition in Berkeley Law’s energy and environmental law program and community. Each year it brings together students, faculty, alumni, and other leaders in the environmental and energy law community. The next Banquet will be on Earth Day, April 22, 2022.

Rep. Jared Huffman addresses the audience at the 2019 Environmental Awards Banquet

Highlights of the Banquet include an award to someone who has made outstanding contributions to environmental law. Former Environmental Leadership Award recipients include former Assemblymember and AB 32 author Fran Pavley (2007), now-California EPA Secretary Jared Blumenfeld (2010), and U.S. Congressman Jared Huffman (2018). The 2022 recipient will be Dr. Robert Bullard, the person generally considered to be the “Father of Environmental Justice.”

2022 will also be the year that Ecology Law Quarterly (ELQ) will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary. ELQ is a premier student-run law journal published quarterly by UC Berkeley’s School of Law. Since its founding, ELQ has become one of Berkeley Law’s most important student-run institutions.

We are honored to announce that in honor of ELQ’s 50th year, Deanna Ruth Rutter B.A. ’69, J.D. ’72 has generously underwritten this event so all proceeds will go directly to E&E programs.

Sponsorship

All Banquet supporters are acknowledged with name and logo placement in the Center for Law Energy & the Environment’s battery of live, print, and digital communications to an audience of more than 5,500 students, alumni, and community members.
