Eleanor Taylor-Nicholson is a Legal Policy Associate at the Chief Justice Earl Warren Institute on Law & Social Policy. Prior to joining the Warren Institute, Taylor-Nicholson earned her JD in Australia and completed a double master’s program at UC Berkeley as a Rotary Peace Fellow. She also worked as a Staff Research Associate at the Warren Institute and published the issue brief Cutting off the Flow: Extraterritorial Immigration Controls.
Taylor-Nicholson’s previous experience includes working as a Program Coordinator and Legal Advisor for the Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women in Bangkok and a Legal Advisor to the Women’s Justice Unit of the Judicial Systems Monitoring Program in Timor-Leste in Indonesia. She also worked as a Legal Adviser to the Commission for Reception Truth and Reconciliation in Timor-Leste. She also served as a law clerk for the Federal Court of Australia and as the Civic Education Officer in the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET).
Taylor-Nicholson’s publications include: Access to Justice in Trafficking Cases: a Handbook for Police and Prosecutors (a joint project with UNIFEM Nigeria and the Nigerian Government) 2009, Material Justice: Access to Justice for Trafficked Persons (Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women) 2008.
Eleanor speaks fluent Bahasa and intermediate Tetum (Timor-Leste) and Thai.
