Alfredsson is currently legal counsel at H&M based in Stockholm, Sweden, where she supports all H&M brand divisions and around 70 markets around the world. Alfredsson has a particular legal interest in new technologies and corporate social responsibility for global corporations as well as an interest in the implementation of new technologies as a tool to improve efficiency within international organizations. Alfredsson has collaborated with the Business in Society Institute in contributing to the UN Global Compact Guide for General Counsel on Corporate Sustainability, with a focus on blockchain and its impact on supply chain. Further, Alfredsson studied business and tax law before obtaining an LL.M. degree and a certificate in Law and Technology from UC Berkeley School of Law in 2018. Alfredsson continues to conduct research in Stockholm in the area of emerging technologies and their implementation, with a focus on risks and possible application.
Falkenhousen is a German lawyer and researcher in the Business & Human Rights space. She has a particular legal interest in the new roles and responsibilities of business in a globally interconnected economy and society. Marie is currently working on her Ph.D. about the possibilities of a tort liability for human rights violations in the supply chain. Her research focuses on duties of care and mandatory human rights due diligence in German law. Falkenhousen studied international and German law in Germany, France, and Hungary before obtaining an LL.M. degree at Berkeley Law in 2018. After her LL.M., Falkenhousen worked with the Shift Project in London, researching the role of corporate culture and corporate governance in fostering respect for human rights. Falkenhousen is now based in Berlin.
Founder and Director | Corporate Sustainability Program | Chile
Ibañez is the founder of the “Corporate Sustainability Program” at the Universidad Catolica Law School in Chile, where he works with general counsel from several Latin America companies to incorporate best practices on governance, sustainability, human rights, and compliance. Juan has a Master in Laws (LL.M.) from UC Berkeley and completed the NY Bar Exam. In 2017, Ibañez organized the first international workshop for general counsel on corporate sustainability in Latin America, and then initiated similar conferences in Colombia. Prior to his current position, Ibañez was the Executive Director of the Chile California Council, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization. As a lawyer in Chile, Ibañez initiated his career in corporate law and then became a partner at a boutique law firm where he represented clients on antitrust cases and dispute resolution.

Ristaniemi is a Finnish-American in-house counsel. He is currently Legal Counsel at Metsä Group and is based in Helsinki, Finland. Ristaniemi has several years of experience of working both in-house and at leading Finnish and international law firms. He is currently finalizing a PhD in antitrust, as a part of which he spent the 2017-2018 academic year at Berkeley Law as a Visiting Scholar. Ristaniemi has particular legal interests in antitrust, corporate governance and the role of business in society. He has collaborated with BISI in revising the UN Global Compact Guide for General Counsel on Corporate Sustainability. Ristaniemi also assisted Berkeley Law to arrange a symposium on corporate responsibility in Helsinki and facilitated Berkeley Law’s cooperation with Finnish legal and compliance communities.
Associate Attorney | Goodwin Procter LLP | San Francisco
Woodward is an Associate Attorney in the San Francisco office of Goodwin Procter LLP. She is a technology buff and legal nerd, and has aimed her career at ensuring that law and technology move forward together to create a better world. Through her internships with the Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Competition and the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, Woodward gained a keen insight into the power of corporations to affect society. She built upon this experience as a student at Berkeley Law, where she researched how regulatory and governance structures should be used to best support sustainable corporate growth. Woodward also served as an editor of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal and fought to enforce the rights of children in the foster care system as a member of the school’s Foster Youth Project. Woodward graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology.
