2020 Cape Town Conference

Focus: Diversity and Inclusivity: A lens on Africa, Birthplace of Humanity

University of Cape Town
June 14-16, 2020

 SAVE THE DATE!

About:

A priority of the meeting will be the development of partnerships between anti-discrimination law scholars in Africa and in the global north and global south countries. We anticipate inviting up to 100 participants, many of whom will be from our partner institutions on the African continent and we are delighted that many global experts in the field have indicated their intention to attend and participate.

Intersectionality will be a cross-cutting theme of the conference,  and in addition to more general anti-discrimination law topics, we expect to organize the parallel sessions along the following four sub-themes:

  • Gender & Sexual Identity
  • Racism & Xenophobia
  • Disability
  • Pay Equity

Activities will be organized for the weekend prior to the conference, including a visit to Robben Island (weather permitting) and an opportunity to participate in a community service project.

Call For Papers

A call for papers will be issued in September, with a deadline in November. Invitations to present will be issued in early January, 2020.
