DETAILS:
The conference will provide a unique forum for judges, government officials, scholars, and practitioners to discuss the work of the state’s highest court and to consider solutions to the challenges the state judiciary faces.
The overwhelming majority of all judicial decisions in the nation are made in state courts, yet the state judiciary has not received the same intense study as the federal system. California is the nation’s most populous state, with one of the largest economies in the world, and its courts are often first to decide issues of national importance.
In addition to the Oct. 4 conference, the California Constitution Center is coordinating a special oral argument session of the Court at Berkeley Law on Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
