WHAT: Berkeley Law 2014 Commencement Ceremony

WHEN: Saturday, May 10, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: Hearst Greek Theatre

DETAILS: Commencement guest speakers David Boies and Ted Olson are the bipartisan legal team that overturned California’s ban on same-sex marriage. Mr. Olson, a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and former U.S. solicitor general, is a 1965 Berkeley Law graduate. Mr. Boies is the Chairman of Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP a national law firm. The two litigators represented opposing sides in the 2000 presidential election case, Bush v. Gore; Boise represented Vice President Al Gore and Olson represented Governor George W. Bush.

Program: The graduation procession of faculty, honored guests, and graduates begins at 8:45 a.m. Interim Dean Gillian Lester will give a welcome address at 9:00 a.m., followed by addresses on behalf of graduate students and the class of 2013. Kristen Holmquist will deliver the faculty remarks, followed by speakers David Boies and Ted Olson at approximately 9:30 a.m.
