Biography:

I am a J.D.-Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, the program in Jurisprudence and Social Policy. I work primarily on political and legal philosophy, ancient philosophy, and social ontology. I expect to receive both my degrees by August 2021.

Before coming to Berkeley, I received a master’s in Classics from Cambridge University, a master’s in Philosophy from Oxford University, and a bachelor’s in Rhetoric from UC Berkeley.

Concentrations:

Philosophy of Law

Dissertation Abstract:

In my dissertation, I argue that neither positivism nor anti-positivism can adequately explain the normativity of law. I further argue that we have pro tanto reasons to follow legal rules. On my view, although these reasons are intrinsic, they are non-moral.
