This seminar (Law 291.A) is a co-requisite to the Environmental Law Clinic (295.5E). The seminar will complement work in the Clinic by providing environmental subject-matter background relevant to specific Clinic projects, training in practical lawyering skills necessary for success in these projects (such as brief writing and case investigation), and an opportunity for discussion of and reflection on Clinic projects. The seminar will feature topical readings and other activities designed to enhance students' project experience and broaden their understanding of the varied advocacy tools available for addressing environmental concerns. The seminar seeks to train students in tactical analysis of environmental problems and solutions, so that they can begin to identify which among litigation, legislative, and/or policy strategies will be most effective in producing a desired environmental outcome.
