This course will examine the law and strategy governing proof of facts, with special attention to the Federal Rules of Evidence (FRE). Topics will include burdens of proof, relevance, hearsay, character evidence, circumstantial inference, impeachment and rehabilitation, expert and lay opinion witnesses, scientific evidence and, importantly, the practical know how for how to put all this into practice in the courtroom.
