The Civil Field Placement Ethics Seminar is the required 2-unit graded companion course to Civil and Environmental Field Placements, where students are eligible for academic credit for legal work in non-profit and government agencies under the supervision of full-time attorneys. The Seminar's goal is to provide students with an opportunity to explore professional responsibility topics in an experiential learning environment. In the Seminar, students conduct readings, discuss hypotheticals, do presentations, and meet with guest speakers on relevant professional responsibility and field placement topics. Students complete memos, timesheets, forms, and presentations to earn credit for the Field Placement and Seminar. In order to be eligible for academic credit, students must complete a Field Placement Application available at: https://www.law.berkeley.edu/experiential/field-placement-program/how-to-apply/. Sue Schechter, Field Placement Director, is available to meet with students to identify appropriate placements. Students are invited to schedule an advising appointment through sschechter.youcanbook.me.
