This is akin to a survey course that will canvass the hot topics of governance in the 21st Century. The political battles will be raging, so the course will tackle relevant current events that unfold, and will touch upon the following areas, among others: state and federal budget strategies, and the values that undergird the differing philosophies; best practices from states and other countries for job creation; labor issues for the public and private sector; education and job training; how the rollout of the Affordable Care Act is faring in states across the country; democracy issues such as campaign finance and voter suppression; governing in politically divided government; and clean energy job creation in America.

** Please note this course will not meet the first week of instruction on 8/26. This course will meet in GSPP Room 250.
