Annotation
This article acknowledges that African American women need to remember that they have the freedom to make reproductive choices, such as ending an unwanted pregnancy, choosing to have a child or not have a child, and making informed and reproductive choices. This article reminds African American women that they have the right to access safe, effective, affordable health care and services for pregnancy, delivery, infertility, contraceptives and abortion.
This historical document is informative because it serves as a reminder that African American women have been oppressed through slavery, segregation, abortion and policymaking and will continue to struggle for freedom, if they do not advocate for themselves and their reproductive rights. It is recommended for community and health advocates that would like to share a unique perspective with their constituents about the importance of reproductive freedom and justice.
