Fried provides an overview of expanded reproductive rights activism since the Supreme Court ruling protecting the right to abortion and notes the continued erosion of access to abortion, particularly for women of color, young women, and poor women through both policy and practice. She discusses the work of activist organizations pushing for greater social justice and realization of full reproductive freedom, such as the National Black Women’s Health Project, Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice, Sister Song Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective, the Federation of Feminist Women’s Health Centers, and the Our Bodies, Our Selves Collective. Talking positively about the future of activism, the author highlights the growing role of youth in reproductive justice education and organizing.
