Sabrina Ashjian is a Clinical Supervising Attorney in the Environmental Law Clinic.
Ashjian began her career as a public defender, serving in juvenile and adult courts as well as restorative programs including juvenile drug court, homeless court, and Veterans Stand Down. Following that she was a consumer fraud and environmental crimes prosecutor, pursuing cases against companies for predatory practices and environmental harms. She served as chairperson of the Cannabis Control Appeals Panel after being appointed by Governor Jerry Brown. She is also the California State Director for the Humane Society of the United States.
Ashjian serves on the national nonprofit board of National Women’s Political Caucus and statewide nonprofit boards of National Women’s Political Caucus of California, Emerge California, California Lawyers Association (CLA) Environmental Law Section, and on the advisory board of Fund Her. She is the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee Chair for CLA’s Environmental Law Section. She is the Legislative & Policy Chair for multiple organizations and conducts trainings statewide on the fundamentals of California legislation and effective advocacy.
Ashjian received a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University, a master’s degree from University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Journalism, and a J.D./M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. She obtained certificates from Pepperdine’s Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law. Ashjian is admitted to practice law in California, New York, and in the United States Supreme Court.
