Jill Kopeikin is the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program Director for the United States District Court, Northern District of California. Before joining the court, Prof. Kopeikin was in civil practice, handling complex commercial litigation and intellectual property disputes, counseling clients in litigation avoidance strategies, and conducting civil and white collar criminal investigations. Prof. Kopeikin has been an ADR neutral for over 25 years, as a Temporary Judge for mandatory settlement conferences in the State Courts, serving on the mediation and early neutral evaluation panels for the Northern District of California, handling private mediations, and has served as co-chair and a mediator for her local community mediation program. She has taught mediation theory and practice at Santa Clara University Law School, and is responsible for training and supervising a panel of ADR neutrals for the Northern District. Prof. Kopeikin earned her undergraduate degree from University of Washington and her law degree from UC Berkeley.
