The Players and the Charges
Actors from UC Irvine’s New Swan Shakespeare Company will play Romeo, Juliet, and the friar. Berkeley Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky will prosecute and Stanford Law Professor Bernadette Meyler will defend the friar, with retired U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Guilford presiding over the proceedings and the audience serving as the jury.
The Friar will face two charges with two separate votes:
The Friar is guilty or not guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
The Friar is guilty or not guilty of child endangerment.
