Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic co-director Jennifer Urban ’00 is one of four experts who have helped the Poetry Foundation publish “Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for Poetry.” The Code aims to spur poetic innovation and distribution by clarifying fair use and anticipating potential clearance issues. Devised for the poetry community, it clarifies proper uses of copyrighted materials in new and old media and instructs poets, teachers, and scholars about the opportunities and limitations of fair use to help prevent permissions conflicts.
