Submitting to BJELL

All authors writing on topics related to employment or labor law are welcome to submit to the Journal. BJELL regularly publishes articles, essays, case notes, and book reviews. Manuscripts are accepted with the understanding that their content is original and unpublished. If any part of a paper has already been published, or is to be published elsewhere, please include this information at the time of submission.

Format and Citations

BJELL prefers submissions in Microsoft Word. Authors should send an abstract and a table of contents with their articles.

Articles should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th Edition). Text and footnotes should be ragged-right (no right justification). Notes should be numbered consecutively and should appear in footnote style.

The Berkeley Journal of Employment & Labor Law follows the American Philosophical Association’s guidelines for non-sexist use of language.

Review Timeline

BJELL accepts and reviews articles on a rolling basis every submissions cycle until the issue is filled. Should an author desire expedited review, please contact bjell.submissions@law.berkeley.edu.
