To-Do List Before You Graduate
- Download research that you have saved in Westlaw or Lexis Folders or Bloomberg Law Workspaces.
- Redeem all Lexis points from the Law School Rewards Program.
- Update your profiles on all research platforms to reflect your new contact information, especially your account recovery email address.
- Apply for the Westlaw Grad Elite program.
- Register for Lexis+ AI Insider and/or apply for the Lexis ASPIRE program for grads who work in 501(c)(3) non-profits.
- Register your Bloomberg Law account, if you have not alrady done so.
- Register your CEB account, if you have not already done so.
Today, Right Now, and Before Graduation
- Westlaw: “Grad Elite” is one of the most robust post-grad programs, but you must enroll before you graduate.
- Limited access to Westlaw, Practical Law, and CoCounsel, Drafting Assistant and more for up to 60 hours per month.
- Access for 18 months following your graduation date.
- Usage for professional and commercial purposes. Check whether your employer prefers that you use a firm-provided research account.
- Limit of 600,000 total lines of downloaded or printed text.
- Ways to Enroll
- Use the Grad Elite pop-up that appears when you sign into Westlaw.
- Log in at www.lawschool.tr.com (opens in a new tab). Click the drop-down menu by your name and select “Grad Elite Status.”
- Visit the Grad Elite Enrollment Page (opens in a new tab).
- Lexis+: Continue to use your law school ID and password to access Lexis+ for 6 months post-graduation. This extension is automatic, but to continue using Protégé and AI tools, sign up for the “Lexis+ AI Insider Program” by June 30.
- Register for the “Lexis+AI Insider Program” by June 30. Register through the Lexis+ home page.
- Graduates must use the points in their Lexis Law School Rewards Accounts before June 30 (unless working at a 501(c)(3)).
- Graduates who work at 501(c)(3) nonprofits may apply for the ASPIRE program (opens in a new tab) for 12 months of free access to federal and state cases, codes, regulations, law reviews, Shepard’s, and Matthew Bender treatises, plus continued access to Law School Rewards points. Apply for the ASPIRE program.
- Bloomberg Law: Students with a registered account will have access to Bloomberg Law for 6 months following graduation.
- If you do not already have a Bloomberg Law account, activate your Bloomberg Law profile now, before you graduate.
- You may use your account for any legal purpose, even work. Check whether your employer prefers that you use a firm-provided research account.
- Dockets usage is limited to $1500 each academic year (resetting in July).
- CEB OnLAW: Continue using this essential resource for California practice guides, forms, sample language, and templates.
- So long as you have set up a student account for CEB OnLaw Pro or AccessLaw, your CEB access will automatically extend for 18 months post-graduation.
- If you do not yet have an account, you must register for an AccessLaw Account before you graduate.

Graduation Day
- Happy Graduation! You did it!
- Your access to UC Berkeley VPN software ends.
- Deadline to enroll in law-school sponsored extended access to Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, CEB OnLAW Pro, and Lexis+ AI.
June
- Software licenses for Microsoft, Adobe, and Zoom Pro expire a few weeks after graduation.
- To extend access to law library privileges through August, email circadmin@law.berkeley.edu. Unless you extend, we delete graduated accounts at the end of June.
- Lexis+ Law School Rewards points expire June 30.
- To extend access to Lexis+ AI tools, apply for the Lexis+ AI Insider program or ASPIRE by June 30.
August
Your CalNet ID will allow Main Library (opens in a new tab) and Law Library (opens in a new tab) research access using the proxy server until mid-August. Until then, you can access all campus databases, borrow from UC libraries, and print from your laptop or in the computer lab.
November
Extended access to Lexis+ AI Insider program and Bloomberg Law ends, typically on November 30.
May Next Year
Access to Lexis+ ASPIRE ends.
December 31 Next Year
Access to Westlaw Grad Elite and CEB OnLawa Pro ends.
