Welcome, Judges!
This year, Berkeley Law will host the regionals of the National Trial Competition, one of the premier law school trial competitions in the nation. The competition will be held January 30-February 2, 2020, at the Phillip Burton Federal Building in San Francisco. We need experienced trial attorneys to serve as judges for trials, as follows:
Thursday, January 30, 2020, 5:00p.m.-9:00p.m. (36-48 judges)
Friday, January 31, 2020, 5:00p.m.-9:00p.m. (36-48 judges)
Saturday, February 1, 2020, 8:30a.m.-1:00p.m. (36-48 judges)
Saturday, February 1, 2020, 1:30p.m.-5:00p.m. (12-16 judges)
Judges will be asked to score the teams on the basis of their trial skills, as demonstrated in direct and cross-examinations of witnesses, handling of exhibits, use and argument of objections, and arguments to the jury. One volunteer in each courtroom will also be asked to conduct the trial, including ruling on objections. Presiding judges will be assigned based on years of trial experience.
We would be honored if you would serve as a judge on Thursday or Friday evening, or Saturday morning or afternoon. For more information and to sign up, please use the form below:
