Monday, March 31, 2025 @ 12:50 pm - 1:50 pm
Event Navigation
Do you find it difficult to read judgments and provisional measures orders of the International Court of Justice (ICJ)? You are not alone! Professor Joan Donoghue, former Judge and President of the ICJ, remembers her own difficulties in parsing ICJ decisions in 1984-1986, when she was a junior attorney at the U.S. State Department assigned the Nicaragua v. United States case. In this workshop, Professor Donoghue will share what she has learned, using a few judgments and provisional measures orders as examples. Participants should download the five judgments and orders that Professor Donoghue will address so that they can follow the discussion (use PDF files below). This event is open to Berkeley Law students, faculty, and staff. Lunch provided. Monday, March 31, 12:50-1:50PM in Law 170, Berkeley Law. For more information, please contact Toni Mendicino, tmendicino@law.berkeley.edu or 510-643-7969. Sponsored by the Miller Institute for Global Challenges and the Law.
