Womxn of Color Collective: Saying NO to Office Housework
Wednesday, April 3, 2019 @ 12:50 pm - 2:00 pm
No to Office Housework: How to Be Our Own Best Advocates
Office Housework refers to administrative work that’s important, but often undervalued, not tied to revenue goals and less likely to result in professional advancement. Too often, womxn of color feel the burden of “office housework” more than their colleagues. Inspired by recent articles (See NyTimes and HBR) and personal experiences, this panel will feature womxn lawyers sharing their personal experiences and perspectives on the matter. Afterward, participants will break out into groups to discuss how womxn of color in the law can be our own best advocates both as students and in the workplace. The panel will comprise WOC attorneys and recent alumni to understand why we do what we do, recognize when we are asked or expected to do more than we should, and how to navigate these situations to create lasting, systemic change.
Events are wheelchair accessible. For disability-related accommodations, contact the organizer of the event. Advance notice is kindly requested.
