Event Navigation
On April 3, 2025, Lorena Ortega-Guerrero and Ayeza Bajwa will argue Melendez-Landaverde, et al. v. Bondi. You can watch simulcasts of these arguments at the Ninth Circuit’s website. Here is the link for the live video stream. The oral argument session starts at 9:00 am. Our case is currently first on the calendar. Recordings of all oral arguments are available the day after argument at http://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/media/
In this immigration case, the agency denied asylum, withholding of removal, and CAT protection, focusing on the Salvadoran government’s responses to the Petitioners’ complaints. The Petitioners challenge the agency determination that they failed to show (1) that the government was unable and unwilling to control their persecutors and (2) that they were more likely than not to be tortured if returned to El Salvador.
