Event Navigation

The UC Berkeley Criminal Law & Justice Center, in partnership with UC Berkeley Law Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice and Worth Rises, invites you to join us on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 12:50 – 2:00 PM PST at 295 Berkeley Law (Warren Hall) for an unmissable opportunity to learn more about the ways the carceral system profits at the expense of marginalized communities and explore the transformative work being done to stop it.
This engaging book discussion will feature Bianca Tylek, Author and Executive Director, who will lead an insightful conversation about “The Prison Industry: How it Works and Who Profits.” The book examines the complex web of financial interests that drive mass incarceration in America, shedding light on how corporations and institutions benefit from the current system while communities suffer.
Lunch will be provided for all attendees, and the first 20 people to RSVP and attend will receive a free signed copy of the book. The event will include an in-depth discussion about the prison-industrial complex followed by a Q&A session with the author.
RSVP HERE by Friday, September 5th!
These events are open only to UC Berkeley Law students, faculty, and staff, unless otherwise noted.
