Please join us on 1/23/2025 for a training on Technological Developments & Tools in the Criminal Legal System.

We are thrilled to welcome UC Berkeley Law educators Colleen Chien (Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology), Catherine Crump (Robert Glushko Clinical Professor of Practice in Technology; Director, Samuelson Law, Technology and Public Policy; Co-Director, Berkeley Center for Law & Technology), Andrea Roth (Professor of Law and Barry Tarlow Chancellor’s Chair in Criminal Justice), Rebecca Wexler (Hoessel-Armstrong Professor of Law; Faculty Co-Director, Berkely Center for Law & Technology), and Chesa Boudin (Exec. Director, Criminal Law & Justice Center) and our very own Community Outreach Attorney, Jake Rhodes, for a discussion of several topics at the intersection of technologies and criminal defense. 

Topics will include:

    • The Paper Prisons Racial Justice Act Tool (Colleen Chien with the Paper Prisons Team)
    • Clean Slate Notification Project (Colleen Chien with Deputy Public Defender Jake Rhodes)
    • FLOCK/Automatic License Plate Recognition & the Fourth Amendment (Catherine Crump)
    • DNA/Machine-Generated Proof (Andrea Roth)
    • The Stored Communication Act & the California Supreme Court (Rebecca Wexler)
    • Resource Allocation by AI & Stakeholder Utilization (Chesa Boudin)

The training will qualify for 1 hour of specialty MCLE credit in Technology in the Practice of Law. This is a new specialty credit requirement from the State Bar.
