Survivor Advocacy and Prison Abolition: A Conversation with Aya Gruber

Wednesday, October 7, 2020 @ 12:50 pm - 2:00 pm

As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, please join BRAIV for a Q&A discussion with Professor Aya Gruber, Law Professor at University of Colorado Law School and recent author of The Feminist War on Crime: The Unexpected Role of Women’s Liberation in Mass Incarceration. Professor Gruber’s book analyzes how feminists, in their quest to secure women’s protection from domestic violence and sexual violence, became soldiers in the war on crime and contributors to mass incarceration. We will be discussing how feminists, activists, and lawmakers can oppose gender-based violence without reinforcing the American prison state.
