The 6th Berkeley-Tsinghua Transnational IP Litigation Conference will take place on  October 3, 2024, at UC Berkeley’s elegant, landmark Faculty Club and online via B-CLE Webcast Since its inception in 2018,  this conference has become a signature event, playing a pivotal role in fostering collaboration between the U.S. and China IP communities. It serves as a crucial platform where legal scholars,  judges, practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders from both nations come together to address the complexities of transnational IP litigation.

This year, the conference introduces three significant new panels:

  1. Legal Challenges for Asian Business Entities: This panel will explore the legal  obstacles faced by companies from China and Singapore as they increase their  investments in the United States. It will focus on the challenges of navigating U.S. IP law  and the broader legal environment, providing valuable insights for businesses operating  across these major economies.
  2. Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR): With a special focus on arbitration, this  panel will examine the growing importance of ADR in resolving cross-border IP disputes.  Discussions will highlight how arbitration and other non-litigation strategies can offer  more efficient and cost-effective solutions to complex international legal issues.
  3. AI Challenges to IP: This panel will provide a comparative analysis of how artificial  intelligence is impacting intellectual property in both China and the U.S., including a  review of landmark cases and recent regulations. The discussion will offer a  comprehensive overview of the evolving IP landscape shaped by AI in these two  jurisdictions.

Beyond these new features, the conference remains dedicated to addressing crucial issues in  cross-border litigation, standard essential patent litigation and licensing in the 5G era,  pharmaceutical patent litigation, and the Chinese patent linkage system. Effective enforcement  strategies will also be a major topic of discussion.

Please join us in this unique forum to promote constructive and in-depth communication  between the U.S. and China, particularly against the backdrop of complex and often challenging  bilateral relations. Mark your calendars for what promises to be a pivotal gathering in the  international IP law community.
