In this mock trial based on Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, Shylock, represented by UC Irvine Law Dean Song Richardson, appeals his case. Berkeley Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky will argue that Shylock’s contract with Antonio was invalid, and that the initial ruling should be upheld. Professional actors from the New Swan Shakespeare Festival’s production of The Merchant of Venice will bring the drama to life. The audience will serve as the jury.
The performance begins at noon. Doors open at 11:30am.
Events are wheelchair accessible. For disability-related accommodations, contact the organizer of the event. Advance notice is kindly requested.
