Tuesday, October 21, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

abstract image of screens around the globe

Join us for a virtual roundtable discussion with global experts to discuss the distinct harms caused by the aggregation of online speech. While individual posts may not violate platform rules, their accumulation can lead to significant human rights issues. This event will explore frameworks for online platforms to address these cumulative harms while protecting free expression. The goal is to raise awareness and identify practical steps toward a more human rights-based approach. Featured speakers will be:

  • UCB Human Rights Center Executive Director Betsy Popken: welcoming
  • UCB Tech Policy Fellow Meri Baghdasaryan: moderator
  • Former UN Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression David Kaye
  • Hebrew University of Jerusalem Post-Doctoral Fellow Yohannes Eneyew Ayalew
  • University for National and World Economy Principal Investigator Bilyana Petkova.
