Goldberg Room (Room 297), Berkeley Law
Lunch will be provided

Panelists:

Kim Foxx served as the first Black woman to lead the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – the second-largest prosecutor’s office in the country. She took office on December 1, 2016, with a vision for transforming the office into a fairer, more forward-thinking agency focused on rebuilding public trust, promoting transparency, and being proactive in making all communities safe. She was elected to a second term in 2020.

Ismail Ramsey served as the 53rd United States Attorney for the Northern District of California from 2023-2025, appointed by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the U.S. Senate by voice vote. Prior to his appointment, he was a partner at Ramsey & Ehrlich LLP in Berkeley and served as a lecturer at UC Berkeley School of Law, teaching white collar crime. He previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1999-2003 and clerked for Judge Harry T. Edwards of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Mr. Ramsey is a veteran of the United States Air Force and holds degrees from Harvard College, Harvard Law School, and the Haas School of Business.

This conversation will bring together state and federal perspectives on prosecutorial reform, examining how leaders in both spheres approach the balance between accountability, innovation, and community safety in the pursuit of justice.

We look forward to your participation in this important dialogue.
