[National Pro Bono Week] Celebrating 50 Years with Centro Legal de la Raza
Monday, October 21, 2019 @ 12:50 pm - 2:00 pm
Please join us to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Centro Legal de la Raza. Centro Legal’s history started here at Berkeley Law. The organization was founded by members of the Berkeley Law La Raza Law Students Association. From the beginning, Centro Legal’s mission has been to serve the residents of the Fruitvale District of Oakland both through the provision of legal services and active community organizing to create social and political change. Centro Legal has faced many challenges over its fifty year history and has reacted and served the community based on the needs of the day. Centro Legal also continues to have a strong relationship with Berkeley Law, supervising the work of students in the Berkeley Immigration Group and La Raza Workers’ and Tenants’ Rights Project, as well as hiring many Berkeley Law students as summer interns and staff attorneys. Come learn about this important organization and help us celebrate Centro Legal’s history and future! RSVP here!
Co-Sponsored by the Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice; La Raza Law Students Association; Berkeley Immigration Group; and La Raza Workers’ and Tenants’ Rights Clinic; Pro Bono Program
