[BCLT & Pro Bono] Pro Bono in Big Law with Ropes & Gray
Thursday, October 24, 2019 @ 12:50 pm - 2:00 pm
Pro Bono efforts by law firms leverage the time, skills, and enthusiasm of experienced legal professionals for the benefit of underserved communities, providing better access to quality legal help for those in need. Come learn about Ropes & Gray’s pro bono program and the experience of Stepan Starchenko and Shong Yin (Berkeley Law ’17). Both Stepan and Shong are associates in the firm’s Intellectual Property group and balance their commercial work with active pro bono practices. This program provides an excellent opportunity for law students interested in joining a law firm to understand how to maintain their personal and professional commitment to pro bono work.
Stepan Starchenko is an associate in Ropes & Gray’s intellectual property litigation group. His practice focuses primarily on patent litigation across a variety of technical industries, such as wireless telecommunications, telephony and networking, semiconductor technologies, consumer electronics, and propulsion systems
Shong Yin is an associate in the intellectual property group at Ropes & Gray. His practice focuses primarily on patents, and encompasses trade secret and trademark matters. His experience with patent matters spans prosecution, litigation and licensing. He has prosecuted patents in patent offices around the world, in North America, South America, Europe, East Asia and Oceania.
The BCLT/BTLJ Law & Tech Speaker Series features local practitioners, bringing real world experience and practical legal knowledge to Berkeley Law students.
Lunch is served for students staying for the entire presentation.
