Join Berkeley Law’s Center for Law, Energy, and the Environment (CLEE) for a symposium marking the research center’s 20th anniversary.
Berkeley Law established the Center for Law, Energy, and the Environment (CLEE) in 2006 – a time when California was launching bold, world-leading policies to address climate and environmental issues. At the same time, the federal government was walking back from its commitments and trying to limit the State’s authority. Fast forward twenty years and the policy landscape looks similar, albeit much more dire – both in the urgency of the climate crisis and the scale of federal rollbacks and attacks on state action.
Over the past twenty years, CLEE has honed its focus and expertise in this shifting and dynamic policy landscape. A large portion of CLEE’s work has focused at the subnational level and has resulted in significant contributions from the local to global scale.
This half-day symposium, marking the 20th anniversary of CLEE, welcomes new and long-time friends and partners of CLEE to discuss the challenges, impacts, and significance of environmental law and policy scholarship and how to make a difference in a dynamic policy landscape.
Speakers include:
- Senator Henry Stern ‘09 (CA District 27)
- Professor Dan Farber, Founding Faculty Director of CLEE
- Rick Frank, Founding Executive Director of CLEE
- Rachel Morello-Frosch, Inaugural Associate Provost of Energy, Climate, and the Environment, UC Berkeley
The symposium will be held from 2:00–5:00 p.m., and followed by a reception with drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
