Looking In/Looking Out: Exploring Workplace Diversity at CAL

Friday, April 6, 2018 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Please join your Berkeley Law colleagues for a facilitated interactive workshop led by the Campus Multicultural Education Program (MEP) on workplace diversity.

This workshop is the first of three trainings designed for staff and supervisors by the Staff Diversity Initiative (SDI) as part of the Campus Multicultural Education Program (MEP) coordinated by Dr. Sid Reel.

This first training engages participants in exploring human diversity by reflecting on what makes individuals unique and how this affects one’s worldview. Through telling stories, participants learn more about themselves and others in their organization. This interactive workshop also provides opportunities to practice communication skills for understanding across difference.

Outcomes of the workshop are:

  • To reflect on who we are
  • To learn about others around us
  • To explore the impact of identity in the workplace
  • To practice skills for interaction across difference

Staff members and faculty who complete all three workshops will earn an MEP certificate. More importantly, attendees will come away with a better appreciation of the diversity and complexity of our community and new skills for working together across difference.
