Law and History Workshop

Tuesday, March 5, 2019 @ 12:15 pm - 2:00 pm

Chase Burton (Berkeley Law JD ’16 and current JSP student) will discuss his paper, “Legible People.” The paper explores fingerprinting and policing during World War I. Using the archives of an internal publication of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Burton considers the technological and racial construction of criminal suspects and national security threats, and uncovers cultural dynamics of early 20th century law enforcement. The Workshop proceeds on the basis that participants have read the paper for discussion. To receive a copy of the paper, please contact David Lieberman at dlieberman@law.berkeley.edu. Lunch is provided on a first come basis.
