Featuring Eva Buzo, Executive Director of hūmānus
For too long, the field of international justice has been satisfied with “paper victories” – legal precedents and symbolic judgments that look good in a briefing but fail to manifest as tangible change on the ground. Systemic shifts are required for the human rights sector to remain effective in an increasingly volatile global landscape.
Barrister Eva Buzo will discuss the work of her organization, hūmānus, to shift the agency back to the survivors of conflict and displacement, ensuring they are the ones defining justice and repair.
Sponsored by the Institute of International Studies and co-sponsored by Berkeley Law’s Human Rights Center and Miller Institute for Global Challenges and the Law. Event takes place on Monday, September 28, 3:30–5:00pm followed by a reception. Location: Institute of International Studies, 223 Philosophy Hall, UC Berkeley campus.
