Henderson Center’s Ruth Chance Lecture Series: Islamophobia in the Bay Area

Thursday, October 26, 2017 @ 12:45 pm - 2:00 pm

ISLAMOPHOBIA IN THE BAY AREA

with Zahra Billoo, Executive Director, Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) – CA

Islamophobia is the irrational fear of, aversion to, and discrimination against Muslims(or those perceived to be Muslim). What is the cost of living with this fear, whether experienced directly in daily life or as an ambient theme in our culture? Zahra Billoo, celebrated activist, lawyer, and Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, San Francisco Bay Area office, will describe the reality of Islamophobia in the Bay Area and help us imagine the steps to creating a community in which Muslims are genuinely free.
