Event Description
Did you know that all law students are eligible to join our graduate student union at the UC, UAW 4811? Or that over 100 J.D. students typically work in a union-covered position at any given point during the school year? Did you know that, in Spring 2024, we got our law school to abandon its attempt to push law students doing research for law professors out of that union, securing a 6.4% wage increase on top of other workplace protections?
If you want to support your classmates (and, there’s a good chance: your future self), learn about labor law ~especially well~, or help build the labor movement, this is the place to be. Come join the Berkeley Journal of Employment and Labor Law (BJELL) and law student organizers for a quick introduction to the rights and opportunities available to you through UAW 4811. Lunch will be provided.
These events are open only to UC Berkeley Law students, faculty, and staff, unless otherwise noted.
