Come join our symposium in Washington, DC featuring panels with scholars sharing insights on our federalist system. The Edley Center on Law & Democracy hosts the Thomas David & Judith Swope Clark Symposium on Constitutional Interpretation to discuss ways states can fight back to counter authoritarianism. We are thrilled to have Washington Attorney General Nick Brown as our keynote for the symposium. We will also feature expert panels with scholars sharing insights on our federalist system — and untapped authorities that states and local governments can use to challenge repressive federal actions and to advance freedom and equality. The symposium draws on chapters that The New Press will publish in book form in early 2027.
