Fight Back: How States Can Counter Authoritarianism Symposium

The Edley Center on Law & Democracy hosts the Thomas David and Judith Swope Clark Symposium on Constitutional Interpretation on August 28 to discuss ways states can fight back to counter authoritarianism.
This symposium will feature a keynote speaker, Attorney General Nick Brown (Washington), and two expert panels with scholars sharing insights on our federalist system — and untapped authorities that states and local governments can use to challenge repressive federal actions and to advance freedom and equality.
The symposium draws on chapters that The New Press will publish in book form in early 2027.
