Thursday, September 25, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Event Navigation

Join CAPS for lunch and a timely discussion with Center for Consumer Law & Economic Justice Senior Fellows Sam Levine, former Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, and Seth Frotman, former General Counsel of the CFPB.
Eight months into the second Trump administration, Sam and Seth will reflect on the state of consumer protection and antitrust law and the challenges ahead for advocates.
The Trump administration has undertaken a sweeping campaign to weaken consumer protection, decimating the CFPB with funding restrictions and staff cuts, and severely undermining its enforcement capacity. The Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Product Safety Commission have also been trammeled.
Sam and Seth will address how federal agencies and state governments are navigating this environment, the long-term implications for consumer rights, and what tools remain for rebuilding fair and transparent consumer markets.
Lunch will be provided. RSVP here!
